Dear Parents,
Another exciting year has begun for our Youth Ministry Program here at Sacred Heart. The Core team and I have planned many activities for the teens during our meetings, as well as many other additional events. We are confident that these events will provide a wide variety of opportunities for the teens to grow both in our parish and in the community. We are enclosing with this letter a calendar for the Fall/Winter with our meetings and other important dates highlighted.
In addition, we will continue a leadership development program this year. There will be several opportunities for the teens to utilize their many talents to meet the needs of youth ministry both in planning out different events, and in working with others. We also draw upon the energy and abilities of the young adults who join us as they are an integral part of a Core Team who work closely with me on mentoring the youth. As always, there are plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved with our meetings and special events. I have been extremely grateful for the tremendous parent response we have received so far, and look forward to working together with many more families this year. There is also an upcoming Family Cookout Night on October 16 where all the teens and their families can share in a great evening together.
Enclosed with this letter you will find a "general permission form" to be filled out for each child who attends Youth Group. We need to have updated contact and medical information on file in ease of emergencies. Also, this form acts as a general permission slip for any local activities we do with the teens off of the Sacred Heart campus. (i.e.: bowling, etc.) Our larger activities - Ski Trip, Hershey Park, etc - will have separate permission forms sent home. We are also requesting that a $25.00 donation per child be sent in with this general permission form to help defray the many expenses associated with Youth Group. A new permission form needs to be sent in each year, with updated information.
As I share with Msgr. Parry, and Mimi Shea on a continual basis, I believe we have a wonderful Youth Group at Sacred Heart, filled with very inspiring teenagers. I am very thankful to serve your children in this capacity, and look forward to a very full year.
